Did you know that an average-sized dog dropping produces 3 BILLION fecal coliform bacteria? Because pet waste can easily be washed into the untreated storm sewer system and go on to local creeks and lakes, it is very important to pick up after your pets to keep the water around Garland clean and safe for people and animals to use.
The City’s Stormwater Management and Parks departments want to help you be a responsible pet owner. Stormwater Management has purchased Mutt Mitts and park dispensers to make poop scooping easier. Look for the white dispenser boxes in City parks around town. In 2010, we were able to add 7 additional dispensers to Garland parks. For a complete listing of Mutt Mitt dispenser locations, please see the table below.
Mutt Mitt dispensers are maintained by the Garland Parks and Recreation department. If you notice an empty dispenser, please call 972-205-3588.
