Garland Initiates Stage 3 Water Conservation Measures     With lake levels the lowest they have been in decades, water resources have reached a critical stage.  Effective November 1, 2011, Garland residents and businesses must comply with the following water restrictions:   No draining or refilling existing swimming pools No operation of ornamental fountains/ponds except to support aquatic life    No washing down exterior hard surfaces Lawn/landscape watering with sprinklers limited to two (2) designated days per week  Sundays and Thursdays for even numbered street addresses   Saturdays and Wednesdays for odd numbered street addresses   Mondays and Fridays for town homes and business complexes having a common irrigation system Apartments are to use the property's business office address to determine their watering schedule No watering lawn or landscape between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. except for hand watering or using soaker hoses Use of water to wash vehicle is prohibited unless the source of water is equipped with a nozzle that controls water flow  Use of water that allows runoff or other waste is prohibited   Seasonal rains and cooler temperatures alone will not end current drought conditions.  It could take months for area lakes to return to acceptable levels.  Garland water customers are urged to continue their efforts to conserve water.
